Adult Ballet
Age: young at heart!
Adults can learn and benefit greatly from ballet.
Through the training of ballet, adults can gain an elegant posture
and learn to move with grace. The exercises will help you keep fit, stay slim, increase flexibility and tone
your muscles.
QDC's adult ballet courses focus on some of the exercises, techniques and steps of classical ballet with an
emphasis on terminology and correct body
alignment.
All sessions include a warm-up at the barre with center floor work and combinations.
Participants will develop an aesthetic awareness of the art of classical ballet.
Adult ballet can cover various levels:
- Beginner
- For adults who are interested in exploring the art of ballet or who haven't danced in a while and are
looking to ease back into things.
- Basic ballet positions, terms and concepts will be introduced while everyone builds up a sweat!
- Intermediate
- For adult dancers who have studied dance for a number of years. This class will challenge the experienced
dancer, building strength, balance, extension and grace.
- Barre
- Exercises focussed on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific
set of muscles) combined with repetitions of carefully-controlled small range-of-motion movements.
- Advanced Ballet
- Targetting dancers who are confident in their understanding of ballet technique and principles: this class
will develop your ballet vocabulary, technique, musicality and artistry.
- Pointe Skills I/II
- We offer both pointe and pre-pointe classes for students who are physically and technically ready for the
demands of dancing on pointe. Please enquire for more information.
- Ballet Conditioning
- These classes aim to increase flexibility and strength through various exercises designed to target muscles
and alignment used in ballet, and are a great compliment to regular ballet classes.
Suitable for all levels.
